Top 10 Movies of the Decade (2000-2010)

** Not in any specific order**

1. Apocalypto (2006)

This movie was a breath of fresh air after years of pointless and meaningless movies. It took place in what was suppose to be the ruling period of the ancient Mayan civilization. Apocalypto depicts the journey of a Mesoamerican tribesman who must escape human sacrifice and rescue his family after the capture and destruction of his village.I happen to love movies in other languages ((they spoke Yucatec Maya))so this was rite up my alley.Cast included actors from mainly mexican and native american descent making the movie even more beliveable **PAUSE**Idk about you but I hate when they use other races to play the character of people who historically correct wouldnt fit in that time frame**shrugs** If they ever come out with a Micheal Jackson movie I pray they use black actors not white or mixed actors lol I doubt they listen to me but if your talented maybe you can play the part I've seen upscale actors do it all the time the right make up artist and you can be whoever you wanna be CARRYING ON->>>this movie is about the only thing Mel Gibson was involved with that I can get down with and appreciate. My favorite quote :

Jaguar Paw: I am Jaguar Paw, son of Flint Sky. My Father hunted this forest before me. My name is Jaguar Paw. I am a hunter. This is my forest. And my sons will hunt it with their sons after I am gone.

2. The Curious case of Benjamin Button (2008)

Omg finally something that can make titantic look washed up! Yes I loved this movie I cried like a baby. Its certainly on my list of movies to watch when I get married! The movie was loosely based on the 1922 **PAUSE**I knew this was an older story due to how classy it was. Nowadays with movies like Babyboy and Poetic Justice being considered top love stories this was seriously a relief from the madness **whew** CARRYING ON>>short story of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The film stars Brad Pitt as a man who ages in reverse and Cate Blanchett as the love interest throughout his life. My favorite quote:

Daisy: Would you still love me if I were old and saggy? Benjamin Button: Would you still love ME if I were young and had acne? When I'm afraid of what's under the bed? Or if I end up wetting the bed?

3. 300 (2007)

Wow I cant count how many times I've watched this movie, pure awesomeness. This movie will have the punkest of men feeling froggy LOL! An American action film adapted from a graphic novel of the same name by Frank Miller, a fictionalized retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae. Great movie a must watch. Definitly one of the greatest war movies of all times. My favorite quote:

Persian: A thousand nations of the Persian empire descend upon you. Our arrows will blot out the sun!Stelios: Then we will fight in the shade.

4. Troy (2004)

Hmm what a cast Orlando Bloom Brad Pitt and Eric Bana I thought I Was cured this movie gave me jungle fever all over again! SMH.Other than the apperant beauty of the cast did everyone else notice how beautiful the scenary was? Major sets for the city of Troy were built in the Mediterranean island of Malta at Fort Ricasoli from April to June 2003. Other important scenes were shot in Mellieħa, a small town in the north of Malta, and on the small island of Comino. The outer walls of Troy were built and filmed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Troy was directed by Wolfgang Petersen based on the story of the legend of the battle of troy. I still don't know if that story is true or fiction due to all the greek mythodlogy it's roots has been twisted with anyways I'm just pleased with this dynamite film! My favorite quote:

Hector: You say you're willing to die for love but you know nothing about dying and you know nothing about love!

5. Underworld-series (2003)

I truly love vampire and other fantasy movies, haven't seen one this good since -Interveiw with a Vampire- Not only was this an action packed film but it was a love story. Not hard enought to scare ur the women away-yet not soft enuff to loose the attention of men. This story really did deal with different prejudices, and showed that true love has no boundaries. This decade has definitly been the spinoff of vampire movies and this series of film can certainly hold its ground. My favorite quote:

Lucian: I've lived by their rules my entire life. I've protected them. envied them. and for what? To be treated like an animal. We are not animals! Is this want you want? We can be slaves, or we can be... LYCANS!

6. Lord Of The Rings-Trilogy (2001)

What a lovely fantasy film It brought to life what we only can see in our dreams.Who knew Elijah Woods had enough brute to be such an amazing actor? The trilogy is based on the three-volume book The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. Set in the fictional world of Middle-earth, the three films follow the hobbit Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) as he and a Fellowship embark on a quest to destroy the One Ring, and thus ensure the destruction of its maker, the Dark Lord Sauron. The Fellowship becomes divided and Frodo continues the quest together with his loyal companion Sam (Sean Astin) and the treacherous Gollum (Andy Serkis). Meanwhile, the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), heir in exile to the throne of Gondor, unite and rally the Free Peoples of Middle-earth, who are ultimately victorious in the War of the Ring. My Favoite Quote:

I am a Will Smith fan, and after taking a fall with me with I am Legend What a way to make it up! I loved this movie! It had a sad yet satisfying end. This may be my favorite Will Smith Movie ever! Plot-a man who sets out to change the lives of seven people and ends up falling in love with one of them. This movie allows you to think reflect and be grateful for what you have and what you have been saved from. My favorite quite:

Clash of The Titans(2010)

Best re-make ever! Point Blank Perioid The remake of the 1981 Ray Harryhausen special effects extravaganza stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. Worthington stars as Perseus, bastard son of Zeus, who gets caught in a power struggle between the gods. When Hades makes a power play for Earth and the Heavens, Perseus must fight the deadly minions of the Underworld to keep his enemy from taking Zeus' power and conquering his world.

  1. I have to disagree that I Am Legend was a fall for Will Smith. Whilst the storyline kind of fizzles out and they chose the wrong ending for the main release, it has to be noted that I think this was Will Smith's first major storyline where he plays a dead serious character.

He spent most of his time in solitude throughout the film, with the exception of Sam, and he completely gets across the feeling and effects of loneliness. When he is forced to kill Sam and he falls into the gloom of despair and hopelessness, Smith conveys that powerfully (the breakdown in the video store and the suicidal vengeance on the infected!)

Even his soliloquy on as to why there is no God and why it is only man responsible for the destruction of mankind was also convincing (when viewing from the character's perspective) and elegant as well as scary.

lol has my 20 pence (or 20 cents) I just thrown in changed your view? As I said, the movie had a lot of potential, and it proved weak, but Will Smith turned that weak story into a powerful conveyance of a dialogue of fear, hope, despair and loneliness.
